Theme: Steel Cities Moving to New Horizons

The Singapore Florists Association display garden design begins from a simulated steel Cityscape or Skyline wrapped by sculptural live plants that represents the symbiotic relationship between cities and forests.

Sympathetic sculptural pieces will extrude and evolve, weaving through rivulets of pebble and granitic sands in earthy tones. Planted bands will be strong in foliage, form and colour will form waves of ochre, silver and gold. Plantings within this zone will be suggestive of re- birth and cleansing. Perspex panels within this zone are highlighted via dramatic lighting effects.

A dry creek representation traverses the site, and concrete and timber lily pads are formed by raised viewing platforms. A flower pod feature is the focal point. Plants from both arid and tropical regions of the world are included in bold, architectural forms. Plants were used to contrast and to create fluidity with the modern, sculptural forms.

A viewing platform was structured to enable visitors to gain a clear vista of the site; however slotted views were created around the entire perimeter of the site.

The representation depicts or suggests the future of our cities and the need for plants and buildings to have an almost inseparable, living connection as our cities breathe and expand into new horizons.
